Committees

The Parochial Church Council

Ex officio members are: Clergy, 2 Wardens, and 3 Deanery synod representatives, as well as up to 10 members of the laity. Deanery synod reps represent St. M’s at Deanery Synod, which is the lowest order of Synod, but feeds through other levels up to the Church of England Synod. This is the mechanism for making our views known at the top, receiving from the top.

The members of the PCC are considered to be trustees of the Church, with responsibilities along with the incumbent, to promote the spiritual mission of the Church and to oversee worship in the Parish. In addition to this it has responsibilities for finance, Safeguarding and Health and Safety as well as the Fabric and contents. This Church is also responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the Graveyard/burial ground. The Burial ground is open to anyone and those laid to rest they do not have to have been. We serve the community as a whole.

All members are subject to DBS checks as trustees of a charity.

Each year the various groups in our church produce reports for our AGM, whereat new members of the PCC are elected.
