Family situation

  • Born in Betley, the son of Alfred James and Elizabeth (nee Wood) in about 1923.
  • He had 12 siblings and for some time the family lived in Checkley Lane.

Service

  • Frank joined the Cheshire Regiment in 1938 when he was 17 and a half.
  • Later on he went Absent Without Leave (“AWOL”) for a time, but joined the West Yorkshires under his brother Reginald’s name.
  • He fought in the Far East theatre and died in BurmaShow on map on 15th February 1944 aged 21.
